Greater Conflagration....a ranger skill question
Hi captured this skill on the final mission from a titan i think it was.
anyone know what it does..I dont understand what it means. says : Nature ritual. create a level 5 spirit for creatures within its range all physical damage is fire damage instead. the spirit dies within 86 seconds (attribute: wilderness survival) tried it ...it made a spirit but didnt seem to do anything...does this add to the damage i do to to an opponent while the spirit is alive? any help greatly appreciated ty |

Any physical attack (weapon strike WITHOUT any enchantments/preparations/modifications to make it elemental damage) is converted to fire damage. This is useful if you're fighting ice-related enemies (Ice Golems) or if you have Drake armor, as it has enhanced defense against fire.

Physical damage becomes fire, that's it.
It's like making every person in range use fire mods on their physical weapons (bows, swords, hammers, axes), if they don't already have an elemental damage mod. What's the point? In the pre-made, they use Greater Conflagration instead of Fiery Bowstring because they assume people haven't unlocked it yet. As with other nature rituals, though, it's true use is manipulating the flow of battle. With Greater Conflagration, you now know without a doubt, there will be 0 physical damage taking place. Warriors aren't quite so useful anymore, as there's no physical damage to tank. On the other hand, Rangers are looking even better than they already were, as they'll take heavily reduced damage from almost all of the attacks out there. (Holy/Chaos/similar defence ignoring spells would hurt anyone the same amount, so no point in worrying about them). You know that the bulk of damage will be elemental, and that a large portion will probably be fire. So now you can equip skills to prepare for that, such as Storm Chasers, Elemental Resistance, Mantra of Flame, Ward Against Harm, Ward Against Elements, you get the point. And I'm sure there're many more such uses. |

I would say it is not really all that useful.
GC is used so you can focus your party's defense against a particular thing. Since you're converting all physical damage into fire damage, you don't have to have physical-specific defense. |

how come greater conflagration is and elite skill and winter is not? Winter does the exact same thing but instead for water or ice damage.

Greater conflag + storm chaser = nearly infinite energy... Godlike... end of story...
Quote:
While conflag changes Physical dmg to fire dmg... which helps Lots of classes that use extra armor vs fire... |
